Raised PSA and the prostate

Customer's question

I am 58 and my PSA is slightly raised. My urologist says we should keep watching it. Is there anything I can do myself in the meantime?

The pharmacist's answer

First: the monitoring your urologist has prescribed is the right course and the only one that really answers this question. A raised PSA does not in itself mean disease, but it does mean it has to be followed.

As for what to do in the meantime, in folk tradition small-flowered willowherb and nettle root are traditionally used for difficulty passing water in men. We make a blend under the name PuroSIT.

We have to be clear: this does not affect the PSA value and is not meant to. It is used for discomfort, not for the cause.

For that reason we also do not recommend taking any of this instead of a check-up, or putting a check-up off because you feel better.

If you take medicines for the prostate, talk to your doctor before drinking it regularly.
