The Stična Monastery Nursery
The work of the nursery comes out of the economic history of the monastery at Stična. Today it is one of the largest and most modern nurseries in Slovenia.

Out of the monastery’s economic history
The work of the nursery also comes out of the rich economic history of the monastery at Stična. After the Second World War, when its economic strength had been cut back, the monastery was forced to keep itself by its own gardening, and to sell what it grew.
At the turn of the millennium the monastery widened that work through its Monastery Nursery. In one of the largest and most modern nurseries in Slovenia we now grow more than 250,000 quality ornamental plants a year. On more than 3,000 m² under cover, every year there flower primroses, balcony flowers, pelargoniums, fuchsias, annuals, pansies… We like to spoil our customers with flowers of outstanding quality, a wide range and something new every year, and we are glad to help with practical advice as well.
Vegetable seedlings, grown without sprays
With vegetable seedlings grown at home we also give a great deal of attention to our customers feeding themselves. We are proud to raise salad crops, fruiting vegetables, brassicas, herbs and aromatic plants without using harmful plant protection products.
Houseplants, and everything for planting
We are always well stocked with houseplants for your home or office too. And to make the choice richer still, we fill it out with fashionable flower pots, growing composts, fertilisers, ornamental bark and the like.

When it is open
