Thyme Drops

Thyme drops are an extract of garden thyme (Thymus vulgaris) in a water and alcohol solution, at a ratio by weight of 1 : 6.4. The scent and the taste are strong, of thyme's essential oil; they are taken diluted in warm water or tea. In folk tradition thyme is used in the cold months, and for gargling. Father Simon Ašič recommended the drops alongside the Chest Tea. A cough that will not go, a fever, or difficult breathing call for a doctor. The drops are made in the Father Simon Ašič Herbal Pharmacy at Stična by steeping the plant in a water and alcohol solution; the ratio is given under the composition. Dose: 15 drops in a cup of tea or water, three times a day. They contain alcohol and are not suitable for children, or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
