Description

About this product

Samostan Stična: Domovanje patra Simona Ašiča several authors 200 pages, 170 x 220 mm, hardback, published 2013 ISBN 978-961-278-047-0

The book is in Slovenian. Where Ašič's handbooks describe plants, this one describes the house he lived in: the history of the Cistercians from the twelfth century onward, the monks of Stična, and the artistic and historical treasures of the abbey.

The first chapter, on the roots of the Cistercian tradition in Europe and in Slovenia, is by Father Anton Nadrah. Luka Vidmar writes the cultural history of the abbey, Professor Maja A. Ficko the life and work of Father Simon Ašič, and Jože Kukman a closing chapter on him as a herbalist, with 25 of the plants from his collection. The foreword is by the present abbot of Stična, Father Janez Novak.
