Mistletoe Drops

Mistletoe drops are an extract of white mistletoe (Viscum album), the green half-parasite that grows on the branches of apple, poplar and other trees, in a water and alcohol solution at a ratio by weight of 1 : 6.5. The taste is slightly bitter and grassy. Father Simon Ašič counted mistletoe among the plants for the heart and the circulation and recommended it to older people; folk tradition uses it where the circulation is concerned. Blood pressure and the heart are a doctor's work; the drops are no substitute for the medicines prescribed, and should not be taken alongside them without asking. Mistletoe berries are poisonous and are not in the drops. The drops are made in the Father Simon Ašič Herbal Pharmacy at Stična by steeping the plant in a water and alcohol solution; the ratio is given under the composition. Dose: 15 drops in a cup of tea or water, three times a day. They contain alcohol and are not suitable for children, or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The product is no substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy way of life. Its use is no substitute for treatment with prescribed medicines.
