At the end of this September the Cistercian Way also came to life in Slovenia, part of an international hiking trail more than 6,300 kilometres long that links the monastic landscapes of six European countries. The trail was prepared and opened as part of the project Cisterscapes, Cistercian Landscapes, in which 17 partners from five countries take part.
The opening of the trail took place in Stična, where circular routes 12 and 24 kilometres long have also been prepared through the rich cultural heritage that the monks have left around Stična over the centuries. Both circular routes are marked with yellow rosettes and information boards. The main part of the Slovenian trail links Stična and Kostanjevica na Krki, where the Božidar Jakac Gallery is.
Stična Monastery is therefore an excellent starting point for exploring the rich legacy of the Cistercians. You are welcome to visit!
