Advent in Stična

Stična Monastery, a hidden gem in the quiet Slovenian countryside, will host the event Advent in Stična, with a unique combination of a charming exhibition of hand-made nativity cribs, from miniatures to rare collectors' pieces from all over the world. The programme will be enriched by a concert by Eva Kovačič and a festive fair in the inner monastery courtyard.

The organisers of Advent in Stična, the Stična Tourist Society and the Cistercian Abbey of Stična, invite you to a pre-holiday gathering in Stična on Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 December. The central point of this year's Advent fair is undoubtedly the opening of the exhibition of nativity cribs (Saturday at 17.00) in the cloister of Stična Abbey. Step into the world of intricate hand-made cribs, carefully curated to show the story of the birth of Jesus. Visitors will be able to admire the cribs all evening and enjoy company over homemade food and drink, among them the monastery barley stew and a hot monastery roll, in the picturesque inner monastery courtyard. There you can also admire the historical development of this oldest still active Cistercian monastery in Slovenia.

You are invited and welcome in Stična!
