Cracked hands: the herbal pharmacy's answer

Published 1 min read

Cracked hands

Customer's question

In winter my hands get so dry and cracked that they sting even when I wash them. What do you recommend?

The pharmacist's answer

The cause is almost always a combination of cold, wind and frequent washing. So the first thing is not an ointment but lukewarm water instead of hot, and cream straight after drying.

For the care of dry, chapped skin we offer Hand Cream with an extract of lavender flowers, which keeps the skin's natural moisture, and Calendula Ointment for red and sensitive skin.

Apply it in the evening too, not only in the day; the skin renews itself at night and the ointment has time to work.

If the skin cracks until it bleeds, itches or flakes in rings, this is no longer dry skin and belongs with a dermatologist.
