Herbs for the joints and the spine

Ointments and oils for rubbing in, to Father Ašič's recipes. They are meant for external use and for care, not for treating a disease of the joints.

The Ašič approach

Which herbs, and why

For the joints Father Ašič used comfrey, arnica and St John's wort most of all. The comfrey ointment is among his best known preparations.

The St John's wort oil is made by maceration, that is by long steeping of the plant in olive oil; it suits the massage of larger areas.
