On Sunday 4 June, between 11 and 17, interesting events will take place in the square by the Stična basilica and in Father Simon Ašič's herb garden, which is close to the oldest Slovenian monastery.
The herb garden dedicated to Father Simon Ašič, the best known Slovenian herbalist and monk of the Cistercian Abbey of Stična, will shine in full splendour on this day and will be officially opened to visitors for the first time.

Fairs have for centuries been a centre of gathering and trade in animals, produce and goods. The skilled hands of under-appreciated craftsmen still make a variety of useful goods from local materials: wood, stone, metal and earth, or clay. At this Stična fair, held in the square by the Stična basilica, the craftsmen will be joined by local societies, institutions and artists, who will present their achievements. Throughout the fair we will be able to enjoy performances by local musicians, dancers and other artists and try our hand at prize games, skills and knowledge. After buying useful goods for ourselves or as gifts, home-made treats from local produce and a refreshing drink will go down well.
Since there is no good fair without a large number of willing visitors, the local organisers invite you to join in and contribute to a true fair atmosphere.
Information about a possible cancellation of the fair in case of bad weather will be published a few days before the event on the website of the Stična Tourist Society: www.tdsticna.si.
